New Moon Soundtrack Artists Taste the Fame

13 11 2009
orig-8135681

um hi we're famous

When Death Cab for Cutie played the Hot Topic party in L.A., they were floored by the fans who waited 2 days just to see ’em throw down “Meet Me On the Equinox.” Lead singer Ben was loving it.

“It was just about as close as you could be to what a modern day Beatlemania must be like. Kids were screaming, yelling, crying and passing out.”

I think it’s cool that bands like Grizzly Bear and (from Twilight) Iron and Wine get exposed to the teens and tweens who love Twilight, not just the grown folks who might have already been turned on to those bands. Even Rob agrees:

“There are a lot of artists who’re very low key and a lot of people don’t know about, who are going to be brought out to a really wide audience. That’s amazing.”

Satellite Heart music vid

5 11 2009

The video for this song from the New Moon soundtrack came out a few days ago. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any new footage from NM spliced into the vid, but Anya appears to be on her way to the meadow and also channels Bella at the end, *heart wrench*

New Moon Soundtrack – So effing tight

13 10 2009

Most of you already know this from all the flurry on Twitter, but for those non-tweeting sigO’s out there…

New Moon soundtrack is being released EARLY due to high demand! (read: because it has already leaked)

…and by early, I mean THIS FRIDAY – 10/16.

announced today via the Official Twilight twitter

announced today via the Official Twilight twitter

Let me preclude my next statement by first saying that I have already ordered my copy in support of the Summit franchise and specifically for the artwork that i can’t wait to pour myself over. I can only imagine all the gajillions in royalties that were probably lost because of the leak… however… I may or may not have already gotten a taste via a little birdy who shall remain nameless.

my official review:

IT’S SOOO MF’ing DOPE!!! I have yet to choose a favorite track.

Lykke Li: Love, Death and Rob

12 10 2009

Lykke Li didnt even have a hook for her song, “Possibility” until she saw New Moon for herself. She hadnt read the books, or saw the first film, she’s not living under a rock- just Swedish.

Mtv posted a great video with an interview of Lykke Li- whose album “Youth Novels” is my favorite of the year… I was always including Lykke Li in my dream soundtrack line up…and then like a miracle from God, she’s in there!

the most interesting new artist out there - in my humble opinion

the most interesting new artist out there - in my humble opinion

Excerpt from the MTV interview:

She found fame and acclaim (more so back home than abroad, but who’s counting) with her 2008 album Youth Novels, a simmering, sexy disc that built indelibly unique pop music out of sources both organic (handclaps, foot stomps, etc) and mechanical (808s, theremins, etc.). She has since toured the world and spent much of her time trying to figure out what to do next. Writing a song for a very major Hollywood picture just didn’t seem to be in the cards.

Basically, she wasn’t sure it would be good for her career as a budding new artist to do the soundtrack for the seemingly teen angst vampire movie…

Until she saw it for herself. Then she was hooked, fell in love with Rob, fell in love with Bella and Edward’s love story- just like the rest of us.

“So it was very much like a discovery, inside myself and musically. I had this song growing inside of me that I had to get out, and [the film] was the trigger. Because I really connected with Bella and Edward’s tortured love story.”

The song is beautiful, listen to it here:

Listen to the New Moon Soundtrack

11 10 2009

Do you want to hear the glorious, melodic soundtrack to New Moon, but your CD hasnt arrived yet in the mail?

It’s filled with depressing and sad songs. YES.

43 days...

43 days...

Grizzly Bear’s “Slow Life” is a favorite, as is “The Meadow”, I feel like that’s what “Bella’s Lullaby” should’ve sounded like. No offense Mr. Carter Burwell, your work on the Where the Wild Things Are soundtrack is outstanding. Lykke Li’s “Possibility” is also exactly what I was hoping to hear. Yay times 1000.

More NM Soundtrack News – The Used

15 09 2009

oh man oh man. this band gives me flashbacks. greener with the scenery, poetic tragedy, and pretty much anything on that self-titled album was like a piece of the soundtrack to a former me. they kind of lost me a little over the years as their sound changed along with my tastes, but they still hold a special little place in my heart.

“It’s gonna be a big deal,” Bert told take40.com. “We wrote a really awesome original song for the movie.” Bert also said that former Nine Inch Nails musician Danny Lohner produced the track. [via NewMoonMovie]

Death Cab ‘Meet Me on the Equinox’ – Full Song

14 09 2009

…set to a photo recap from last night’s VMA’s. The song, inspired by Forks, is so forking perfect. Light, ghostly, complex, tragic. Just like New Moon.

Can’t wait for more soundtrack music to make it’s way out to the webs!
